Information trouvée : décès 2004 ; ISRAELI author Moshe Shamir, an extreme-right proponent of a Greater
Israel expanded to its biblical borders, died today at the age of 83. Born in 1921
at Tsefat in northern Israel, he was originally a left-winger, heading the Hashomer
Hatzair movement and living on its kibbutz before joining the Palmach, an elite unit
of the underground Haganah army set up ahead of the creation of Israel in 1948. His
literary career began in 1947 with the publication of the idealistic novel He Walked
the Fields, and he was also one of the founders of the army magazine Bamahaneh. There
followed dozens of novels, short stories, plays and essays, including The Frontier
(1966), and the trilogy Far from Pearls (1973-1992).He founded the extreme-right Tehiya
(Renaissance) party
