Internet, alt.obituaries, 2004-08-26 Alfred Hounsell (Horace) Dammers, Dean of Bristol,
1973-87, died in Bristol on 23 August, aged 83.He was born on 10 June 1921, He undertook
theological training at Wescott House, Cambridge in 1946, was made deacon in 1948
and ordained a priest of the Church of England in 1949. He served as assistant curate
at Adlington, Lancs, 1948-50. He was a lecturer at Queen's College, Birmingham, and
at the same time curate at St Bartholomew's, Edgbaston, 1950-52. He then served as
chaplain and lecturer at St John's College, Palayamkotti, S India, 1953-57. He was
vicar of Holy Trinity, Millhouses, Sheffield, and examining chaplain to the bishop
of Sheffield 1957-65. He was appointed a residentary canon of Coventry Cathedral in
1965, and dean on Bristol in 1973.
