of women authors in this country, who won fame for her expose of the Standard Oil
"trust," died at 7:28 o'clock this morning of pneumonia in Bridgeport Hospital. Her
age was 86. Ida Minerva Tarbell was born on a farm in Erie County, Pa., on Nov. 5,
1857. In 1891 Miss Tarbell went to Paris and studied at the Sorbonne and the College
de France in Paris for three years. She became keenly interested in biography and
history and wrote her first historical studies on Mme. De Stael and Mme. Roland.
