préparations anatomiques, il est l’un des précurseurs dans son domaine. Par son travail
acharné et rigoureux, Eugène Petitcolin peuple le Musée de l’Ecole Nationale Vétérinaire
d’Alfort de multiples œuvres et influence grandement ses successeurs malgré l’anonymat
dans lequel il est plongé. Son œuvre est d’un éclectisme exemplaire : touchant à de
nombreux matériaux, des techniques différentes et des espèces animales variées avec
une même habileté, Eugène Petitcolin s’impose comme un artiste référentiel dans le
domaine de la représentation animale et anatomique.
Note publique d'information : Joseph Eugene Petitcolin, assistant of anatomy, worked at the Veterinary School of
Alfort of the end of the XIXth century at the beginning of the XXth century. Author
of several hundreds of anatomical preparations, he is one of the precursors in its
domain. By his relentless and rigorous work, Eugene Petitcolin populates the Museum
of the Alfort National Veterinarian School of multiple works and influences largely
his successors in spite of the anonymity into which he is plunged. His work is one
of an exemplary eclecticism: touching several materials, different techniques and
varied animal species with the same skill, Eugene Petitcolin stands out as a reference
artist in the field of the animal and anatomical representation.
