They have included study of phytoliths, starch grains and pollen at archeological sites in Panama, Mexico, Ecuador, Peru, and Israel. Dr. Dolores Piperno is a Senior Scientist and Curator of South American Archeology Emerita, Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History and the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute, Panama.
