Andrew Wilson est professeur d'archéologie de l'Empire romain à l'Université d'Oxford et membre du All Souls College. Ses recherches portent sur l'économie romaine et la technologie antique, l'urbanisme et le peuplement. Il a mené des fouilles en Italie, en Libye, en Tunisie, en Syrie, à Chypre et en Turquie. Il est co-directeur (avec Alan Bowman) du projet d'économie romaine d'Oxford (OxREP) et (avec Chris Howgego) du projet OxREP-Ashmolean Coin Hoards of the Roman Empire. Il fait partie également du projet d'archéologie préventive au Moyen-Orient et en Afrique du Nord (EAMENA).
